Background

Tony’s comprehensive knowledge of the commercial process is founded on 30 years’ experience working in various roles in the civil engineering, rail and utilities sectors.

Having worked with Falco since 2011, as Commercial Manager providing estimating, cost management and quantity surveying support for a range of contracts and projects involving power, communications and water infrastructure, he was promoted to Commercial Director in 2019.

Joining Laing Civil Engineering in 1990, he graduating with a BSc in Quantity Surveying from Anglia Ruskin University. From this base in Civil Engineering he moved to utilities with two years as a Senior QS at Total Pipeline Solutions (a Thames Water subsidiary).

This was proceeded by ten-years working in the underground, rail and infrastructure sectors, for companies & Joint Ventures including Birse Metro, Metronet Rail, CORBER, and London Underground Ltd. Here we worked in a variety of roles ranging from Commercial Management, Cost Management, Change Control, and Claims advice and resolution.

Responsibilities

Tony leads the commercial function at Falco and manages a team of quantity surveyors, to deliver all commercial aspects of the company’s portfolio of projects. He is responsible for supervising their work on a day-to-day basis and oversees the lifecycle of commercial input from preparation of estimates and Subcontract procurement, to post contract commercial management, including valuations, change management and the agreement of final accounts.

He takes a hands-on role in the commercial elements of all projects, including pre-contract pricing, reviewing and negotiation of contracts, production of CVR’s and the preparing of forecasting and financial reporting to the board.
